Enhance and re-shape your chin and jawline

Some individuals have a naturally recessed or deficient chin, which can detract from other facial features. Adequate chin projection is essential in defining your neck and jawline, as well as in balancing your nose and other facial features. We enhance and re-shape the chin and jawline using specialized chin implants. This procedure may be performed by itself but is often performed with other surgical procedures, including facelift, rhinoplasty, and neck liposuction.

Benefits of chin augmentation:

  • Make your chin look stronger and more defined
  • Improve the definition of your jawline and neck
  • Bring your nose and face into better balance
  • Improve overall facial harmony and proportions

What is chin augmentation?

Chin augmentation is a surgical procedure that enhances the volume and definition of the chin. A specialized chin implant is placed directly on top of the front of your jawbone. After placing this implant, a weak or recessed chin will look more natural and proportionate in relation to other facial features.

Even though a chin augmentation only changes the appearance of your chin, it can dramatically improve the overall contours and balance of your neck, jawline, and face.

Your chin augmentation consultation with Dr. Hicks

Dr. Hicks offers a thorough consultation to explore your chin augmentation options. She carefully examines your chin, discusses your goals and concerns, reviews your medical history, and presents a personalized chin augmentation plan. As part of this consultation, your pictures will be taken and morphed with advanced 3-D imaging in order to simulate the results of your chin augmentation.

The chin augmentation technique:

Chin augmentation involves placing a silicone implant directly on the bone where your chin is. Dr. Hicks makes a small incision under your chin, through which she inserts a silicone implant. She will create a tight pocket for the implant, then suture it into place. The skin incision is then closed.

What can I expect after chin augmentation?

You can expect swelling, discomfort, tenderness, and bruising around the chin after your procedure. There may also be temporary numbness in your lower face. Most patients are thrilled with the results, but the final results of the procedure may not be visible for several weeks. You can resume most of your daily activities and work after a week. However, strenuous activities should be avoided for 2-3 weeks, and you should not participate in any contact sports for at least 6-8 weeks.
